![]() ![]() I doubt either eats batteries, but time will tell. Both (as do most) use a single CR2032 coin battery. Either one would make most folks happy.Īs far as battery life, I can’t comment as I haven’t had it long enough. Both of these are a lot of technology packed into a tiny footprint. While some may not hear the subtle differences I can. It’s not as beefy or compact as the Polytune, but the preset sweetened tunings won me over. I couldn’t find anything not to like about it. I wound up keeping the Peterson Stroboclip HD. Upon further review, neither should the Intellitouch. I had a Snark here that someone had given me, and while adequate, it shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence as these two tuners. The reason I tried these out side by side is that my old Intellitouch finally bought the farm. ![]() While I didn’t try one, the TC Electronic Unitune is available (for less money) as a stand-alone chromatic tuner. You are able to set your own tunings and recall them at the press of a button. The other two modes were great, but the strobe mode on the Polytune Clip is visual chaos. However, while convenient, I found that mode least accurate, as sometimes while checking it in chromatic mode would reveal I was out of tune. In Polyphonic mode you strum all strings and are given an immediate visual indication of where you’re sharp or flat. The clip is solid as hell, but movement for viewing could be better. Advertised accuracy is 0.2% in its three modes of tuning (poly, chromatic, and strobe). The TC Electronic Polytune Clip is built like a tank, yet is still small and unobtrusive. The display works well in direct sunlight too. It has three pivot points for movement which makes it easy to get the best viewing angle for you. Its firmware can be updated from the Peterson website via a mini USB cable. The built in sweeteners are worth the cost of admission alone, but the Stroboclip HD goes a step further, letting you create and edit your own tunings and save them. ![]() The HD display is superb and does not jump around like the first generation Stroboclip did. Advertised accuracy is 0.1% in a full on strobe tuner. The Peterson Stroboclip HD is a second generation tuner, replacing the original Peterson Stroboclip. I wanted to see firsthand how both performed on acoustic guitars. Recently I did a comparison of the Peterson Stroboclip HD and the TC Electronic Polytune Clip for my own benefit. ![]()
